As the summer approaches, our designers, builders and installers at KS Pools and Patios find themselves all the more popular with their neighbors and customers. Perhaps some of this has to do with the fact that KS Pools and Patios is recognized by the Better Business Bureau for its phenomenal quality of service. Perhaps it’s because KS Pools and Patios has been a leader in the residential and commercial pool industry for over 20 years.

As industry veterans, we know that you’re excited to be re-opening your pool again this year. By following some of our friendly and professional advice, you’ll be swimming laps again before you know it.

(Re)learn How to Clean

Whether you’re a home or business owner, you have to clean your pool on a regular basis. One of the most useful tools for maintaining the cleanliness of your pool, the skimming net, is easy to master—ideal for scooping up debris on the surface, sides, and bottom of your swimming pool.

At least once a day, you should be encircling and inspecting your pool with your trusty skimming net in hand. Catching bugs, dirt and debris on the water’s surface prevents it from accumulating and encrusting itself along the sides of your pool.

What you can’t scrape away with your skimming net, you can easily clean with a pool vacuum or robotic pool cleaner. Although your robot or vacuum will do the bulk of the cleaning, it’s still wise to brush and grab as much debris as you can yourself.

Balance Your Chemistry

After cleaning your swimming pool, you’ll want to brush up on your pool chemistry. In residential and commercial pools alike, pH and chlorine levels remain a priority, from the day you open your pool, until the day you close it.

A few weeks before you formally open your pool for the summer, and in all the weeks that follow, you should be prepared to be gauge the pH and chlorine levels of your swimming pool. Until you have tested your water, you won’t know if your pool is too acidic or alkaline.
